IN THE HEARTH OF CHIANTI

La Porta del Chianti Restaurant in San Gusmè, where the cooking tradition of Sicily joins the greatest Tuscan products. We are at the heart of Sienese Chianti, in the Municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga.

The Restaurant is located in a small paved square, surrounded by buildings in a typical ancient-medieval style. A porch with tables to enjoy your meal in the open air and an indoor hall with antique arches are the places in which to get comfortable and ready to taste the cuisine of Agostino Veneziano.

AGOSTINO VENEZIANO CHEF

The greatest innovation that Agostino Veneziano brought to the Chianti area is fresh fish, cooked according to the Sicilian tradition.

The cuisine of Agostino Veneziano, whose rhythm follows the seasonality of products, is rooted in a strong Mediterranean matrix, with creative variations and well-thought innovations. The great tradition of Sicily’s seafood cuisine finally reached the hills of Sienese Chianti to introduce itself, side by side with a detailed landfare menu that does not neglect wild game recipes and local traditions.

The Restaurant Porta del Chianti has many peculiarities; first, the place in which it is located: a hamlet of rare beauty towering over an ample valley with picture-postcard views: the town of San Gusmè.

A GATEWAY TO CHIANTI

An ideal starting point to visit the Sienese Chianti, San Gusmè sits on a hill 465 meters above sea level, in a munificent position surrounded by villas, castles and Chianti farms.

San Gusme’ is a fortified hamlet dating back to the XII century. Its structure is compact, roughly circular and surrounded by city walls that enshrine a set of ancient buildings that are particularly evocative, with archways and doors decorated with family crests and coats of arms.
